Dear Grosse Pointe Shores Neighbors, On November 8, 2011, we have a unique opportunity to elect a new Mayor and all six City Council members.  My name is Ted Kedzierski, and I would like to respectfully ask for your support as a candidate for Mayor of the Village of Grosse Pointe Shores.  Together, we can shape the future of our city.

I am a practicing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a licensed attorney.  My wife, Kathleen, and I are proud to have resided in Grosse Pointe Shores since 1995; we have raised and educated our children, Michael and Alla, at local schools and our family has been actively involved in various community functions and events.  In 2009, I was honored to be elected to our City Council.  Later I became your Mayor Pro-Tem and served as Finance Committee Chairman.  I have worked diligently to help address the challenges we have faced.  While we have met with some successes, I firmly believe that WE CAN DO BETTER.

Our city has outstanding employees and we are proud to have a Public Safety Department which is secondto none.  But our union negotiations have dragged on and uncertainty exists with some of our employees.  Legacy costs have become unsustainable and unpredictable.  Our property values have declined, yet our tax rates have continued to rise.  We have fine parks and facilities, but our pool and tennis courts deserve to be updated.  We need to develop an action plan to help attract new families to our city.  I firmly believe that WE CAN DO BETTER.

Our community, like many others, is facing difficult economic times.  But I believe that we are a premier community, and we must work together to not only respect our heritage and traditions, but to also meet the challenges of the future.  I sincerely believe that I have the background, willingness, and ability to bring Grosse Pointe Shores together in a more positive direction.  Together, we can shape the future of our city.  WE CAN DO BETTER.  AND WE WILL.
